| Part 3 - The rebirth of Missus Beastly ... |
|
At the end of the year 1971 MISSUS BEASTLY disbanded. Petja Hofman went to India, Roman Bunka to EMBRYO, Jürgen Benz joined the band ERNA SCHMIDT which
soon dissolved though and was substituted by KRAAN at their country mansion in Wintrup. Lutz Oldemeier changed to CHECKPOINT CHARLIE und Klaus Götzner to EMBRYO,
later UNTERROCK and TON, STEINE, SCHERBEN.
1973 saw the band's restart. Friedemann Josch (flute, sax) coming from UNTERROCK and Dieter Miekautsch (keyboards), who played the keyboards for
MISSING LINK and EMBRYO before, met in Istanbul. They travelled back to Herford and could convince Lutz Oldemeier, Norbert Dömling (bass), who came from
BLUES CAMPAIGN, and Jürgen Benz for a new try.
At around autumn 1973 MISSUS BEASTLY
began to give new live performances. At the beginning of the next year they started new recordings together with the wellknown producer
Dieter Dierks for the new
second nameless LP with significant
influences from fusion, jazz, funk und world music. This album - often called the 'Gorilla-Album' - was re-issued in 2005 by the Garden Of Delights label as a compact disk
- added with four bonus songs from two different concerts.
Three of them were recorded in Minden/Ostwestfalen on 04/13/1974. Dieter Miekautsch is missing here because he already had left the band. The fourth song 'Vloflutho'
is a jam from the Open Air Concert Vlotho-Winterberg in 1975 (I was there - but can't remember much ...). The band was supported by new keyboarder
Burkard Schmidl now who had joined the band in May. You can also find this song on the sampler
VIotho-Winterberg
(D 1975 - Maulschnauz MOL 0001).
Bootleg label Germanofon released an
alternative version of the album with 10 songs (11 are listed though on the cover because 'Vacuum Cleaners Dance' is split by mistake!). This CD contains three bonus tracks
of the illegal From(m) production 'Im Garten des Schweigens/Super Rock Made In Germany'.
Radio Bremen recorded a virtuoso live performance of the band in September 1974. At this time guitarist Eddy Marron played with them, who could also convince
with other bands like VITA NOVA und DZYAN. The recordings are consisting of three jam sessions where the musicians are improvising a lot - even near to free jazz sometimes.
Garden Of Delights could reach for the rights to publish the recordings and released them 2006 under the name
Bremen 1974.
Other concerts followed with violin player Volkmar Hahn from UNTERROCK as well as with Roman Bunka and Wolfgang Dauner at the 106. NDR Jazzworkshop.
In February 1975 Lutz Oldemeier departed - the last original member left the band. Some years later he could call attention as the drummer for the jazz rock band AREA and
during his membership two albums were produced.
